Henry Reifel was Vancouver's beer man (among many other things). He started Brewery Creek on Main at 16th and amalgamated many companies to eventually form Vancouver Breweries. Carling O'Keefe. Carling O'Keefe was a brewing company in Canada that is now part of Molson Coors. The company's origins can be traced to Canadian Breweries, which bought the Carling Brewery in 1930 and the O'Keefe Brewery in 1934. A native of Ireland, Eugene O'Keefe and his family settled in Toronto in 1834. In 1861, O'Keefe and his business partners purchased the Victoria Brewery, located on the southwest corner of Gould and Victoria Streets. In the early 1870s, O'Keefe suggested a radical change for his brewery: the introduction of a new style of beer known as lager.

Thursday's ad is again from 1955, and is for another Canadian beer, this time O'Keefe's Extra Old Stock Ale.The ad seems a little bit busy to me, with too much going on. Besides the sepia tone-like maple syrup farm background, there's the floating label, below the "A Canadian Favourite" tagline, and the cartoon syrup farmer in the bottom right-hand corner.
